AEX Labs MB-8 and MB-6 neodymium drivers have been developed in response to a specific user group requirement for a 8” Mid Bass driver that combines natural sound characteristics with good efficiency and high power handling capabilities. The parameters have been chosen to offer significantly lower distortion and higher low frequency output, AND ABOVE ALL, maintain the natural sound, imaging and accuracy one would expect from a world class audio system. Multiple drivers are used in many of our larger models. The quality, accuracy, and natural sound reproduction properties, convinced us to use these drivers in every model we build. You may have heard some say, “,,, nothing sounds more natural than sound produced from organic materials and “paper cones.” Many people and products dispute this phenomena. Through testing virtually every product built and then prototyping, we have found this to be true. The remarkable realism of our drivers are produced from organic fiber drivers meticulously built to very strict standards. It is true that certain frequencies, instruments, and particularly vocals, sound best when reproduced from such drivers.

The extremely powerful external neodymium magnet assembly assures high flux concentration, low power compression and excellent heat exchange. The levels of force factor and power handling have one of the best power to weight ratios ever built. The exclusive dedicated double roll surround design offers enhanced linear travel and control, in order to reproduce low frequencies accurately and precisely. The curvilinear polycotton cone is formed using a unique wood pulp composition designed to achieve the best possible rigidity and stiffness, while still being able to maintain world class sound characteristics. The 50mm inside, outside aluminum voice coil employs a proprietary voice coil technology. It is composed by a high strength fiberglass former used to carry windings on both the outer and inner surfaces to achieve a mass balanced coil. This results in an extremely linear motor assembly which, in conjunction with the highly advanced design of the magnetic structure, provides a stable, linear and natural sounding driver. The voice coil is cooled incorporating airways between the chassis back plate and the magnet faceplate so that heated air is channeled away from the voice coil and gap, (not towards the voice coil as in conventional designs), and dissipated by the chassis basket.
