Our History
Founded in the early 2000's, in USA, AEX Labs set out to design and produce the world's best audio reproduction systems. For many years it has been a passion of resolve and dedication to achieve our objectives. When "off the shelf" products failed to satisfy our needs, we decided to spend the time, effort, and money, in researching and developing prototypes that could outperform the present day products. With much success in 2006 we found the keys to linear bass without the shortcomings present in other transducers. This now presented another problem, there were no MF or HF drivers being produced that could keep up with our new bass transducers. This took us back to R & D prototypes, and analyzing every design. Finding only one solution that met our build criteria, we knew we had now traveled into uncharted territory.
The inception of our HF1 Ribbon HF Driver in 2007, was exactly the breakthrough we had been seeking for so long. With this new driver our production models could now be designed, tested, and produced. With the market trending to active or powered monitors, we decided to take one more trip into oblivion and find revolutionary electronics to support our extraordinary drivers. The development of our Computer Controlled Amplification System (CCAS), and Source Control System (SCS), gave the drivers the much needed support to do their jobs. In 2009 AEX Labs launched it's full line of products including home, live, and critical listening (recording and mastering) monitors. We are more than proud to offer the results of many years of research that have already set a new standard of reference.
Our Philosophy
AE X-Labs has a very simple approach to the very complicated task of reproducing audio. It has become obvious to us that the best way to deal with inaccurate, inadequate, and incorrect, is not to "band-aid" the situation with more gear and correction devices, but rather to eliminate what is wrong,,, seems simple, right? Well, when you are speaking of dissecting devices, reconstructing signal paths, and utilizing drivers not yet developed, we found ourselves combating convention, tradition, and needing to forge into new territory. We have a fairly short list of what we wanted to accomplish;
1. Eliminate cables
2. Shorten signal path
3. All "work" performed in the digital domain, (EQ,
Cross-over, Room Correction, RTA, etc.)
4. All "work" done AT THE SOURCE, WITHIN THE SOURCE DEVICE
5. 95 DB or higher, and completely accurate to the source
6. No Fatigue at high levels
One thing we've learned along the way, "if you want to provide the world's
best audio products, you must seek out and use the world's best
components". This was no small task, and a large part of our due
diligence. We have auditioned and used all of the best products
available and were left with the same choices our competitors had to make.
Not totally satisfied with "what was on the table", we decided to
spend some time with a company able to produce prototypes of world class
quality. During this process, we discovered the world's first working, accurate, and
completely linear 15" and 18" drivers. We also had much success with
the development of the world's best midbass driver, and a High Frequency
driver capable of 100db from 400-40,000Hz. ALL DRIVERS PERFORM AT EXTREMELY
HIGH LEVELS WITHOUT FATIGUE (5 & 6 on list of build criteria), enabling users to listen at high levels
for much longer periods of time. With the acquisition of components that
were not plagued with shortcomings, and
performing at better than current world-class levels, we were able to
progress
to the electronics. It was now abundantly apparent these
devices were lacking in certain obvious areas. Having tested and
played with the world's best gear, and cables, we decided it was time to
rewrite convention with a device that could play source media, and
enable the user to perform all functions within this device, thus
accomplishing 1-4 on our list of build criteria. With the development of
our
SCS (Source Control System), and CCAS (Computer Controlled Amplification
System), proudly, we can announce that we not only met our
goals but vastly surpassed them.
